Nose surgery, also known as rhinoplasty, surgically alters the size and shape of the nose to enhance the appearance of the face. Patients for rhinoplasty must be at least 16 years old, which ensures that the nose is fully developed.
Surgical Technique
Open Rhinoplasty
Many surgeons prefer the open rhinoplasty approach during nose surgery because they can gain a better view and better access to the inside of the nose. The incision using this approach is made on the skin between the nostrils or under the nose near the nostrils. Once the incision is made, the skin is moved back to allow access to the internal structures. The incision lines, which heal nicely leaving scars barely visible, are fairly small and usually measure between 2-3 mm.
Closed Rhinoplasty
The closed rhinoplasty technique is used on noses that have features that are easily corrected. It is commonly used when the tip of the nose has good shape and is not too long, too wide, over or under projected. The incision during this approach is not visible after surgery because it is made on the inside of the nose.

Overall my experience was 10/10. I am a 24 year old female who had rhinoplasty/septum done. I was extremely nervous prior to the surgery and felt hesitant to even go to the consultation. The staff (Kim/Regina/Michelle) was SO kind and welcoming and I felt like they really cared about what I wanted done with my nose/any concerns I had. Dr. Paresi used imaging on an ipad to show me what my nose would look like if I were to follow through with the surgery. He was objective and clear about how he would approach my concerns with my nose. I didn’t want it to be noticeable that I changed anything about my face/wanted it to be extremely subtle. I decided to go through with the surgery and am writing this review a month later... SO happy. The work done is SO SO subtle! Dr. Paresi met my concerns/exceeded my expectations and I would recommend him to anyone considering plastic surgery! (I never write reviews and felt like this experience was one I should write about). Thank you for Dr. Paresi and his WONDERFUL team of kind people for making me feel less nervous/more confident. :) 100000% worth it!

Doctor ROBERT PARESI is a wonderful professional plastic surgeon that I will recommend to anyone who is in need. He did a fantastic job on my face after I got in a really bad accident at work. The surgeon at the ER did not want to touch me when he saw my nose torn in two and my forehead also. Doctor PARESI placed around 80 stitches and after he removed them after a couple days the results are amazing. Thank you Doctor for being great at your job

It has been exactly 1 year since my rhinoplasty, and to put it simply, it has changed my life completely. My nose was a huge insecurity of mine, and as a male teenager, I felt out of place talking about it or even considering getting a rhinoplasty. But I decided that it was something that would benefit me, so I did it. I always wanted to become better in every aspect of my life, so I knew this was one way I could do it. Dr. Paresi was able to perform the surgery just 3 weeks after my consultation, because the summer leading into college was the only time I would be able to get it done. He managed to pull off the extreme time crunch while doing an excellent job. I can’t even scratch the surface as to how Dr. Paresi has changed my life for the better. I am now the person I wanted to be a year ago thanks to him.

During/After Surgery
Rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia in an accredited surgical facility and typically takes around 1-2 hours to complete. It is considered an outpatient procedure. After surgery, patients will wear a nose splint and will experience bruising and swelling around the nose and eyes. Once the bandages and splint are removed, the nose will look normal, but it may take longer for the bruising to subside completely. It can take up to a full year for the nose to gain its final contour and softness.

Are Surgery Fears Normal?
Yes, and this fear is always elevated when surgery involves the face. However, more than 350,000 people in the U.S. undergo rhinoplasty each year making it one of the most common cosmetic surgeries. Will Nose Be Broken?
About half of rhinoplasty patients will benefit from a manual nasal fracture during surgery. This planned break allows access to perform certain functions during surgery such as narrowing the width of the nose or correcting an asymmetrical nose. This is a common practice and heals within just a few weeks following surgery.
What is a Nasal Pack?
Nasal packing is the insertion of gauze and/or cotton packs into the nasal chamber after surgery. These are used to control bleeding, but are not necessary 100% of the time. They are generally used if the surgery includes the septum.
Is Surgery the Only Answer?
Noses that are too large or too wide, or have a specific deformity may only be able to be enhanced through nose surgery. However, the look of some noses may be able to be enhanced using an injectable filler such as collagen, calcium hydroxyapatite, or fat taken from another part of the body, “injection rhinoplasty” may be an option before resorting to surgery. This is an in-office procedure that can help to soften and camouflage a bump, alter the tip of the nose, and smooth out irregularities.
