Upper and Lower eyelid surgery in 61 year-old Chicagoland female*

The patient presented to the office with complaints of bulging of the lower eyelids and excess skin of the upper eyelids. We discussed blepharoplasties of the upper and lower eyelids to address the aging of both areas. The patient had the surgery under local anesthesia at our AAAASF accredited facility in Downers Grove, IL. The patient had bilateral upper blepharoplasties with removal of excess skin. The lower eyelids were treated with transconjunctival fat removal in all three compartments of the lower eyelids to correct the bulging. An arcus marginalis release was performed to correct the tear trough deformity. A skin flap was raised via a subciliary incision to allow for skin redraping and removal of excess skin of the lower eyelids. Microfat was injected into the cheeks to correct the volume loss of the cheeks which was contributing to the aged appearance of the lower eyelids. Nanofat was injected into bilateral tear trough deformities to improve the skin appearance and thickness. At five months from the surgery, the patient has a noticeable improvement in her lower eyelid appearance with correction of the tear trough and a more vibrant appearance of her eyes.
