Mini-Tummy Tuck in 42 year-old Chicagoan under local in Downers Grove, IL*

This 42 year-old Chicago area female, mother of two, presented to the office with complaints of lower abdominal fat and skin excess. We discussed her options, including liposuction, but considering the amount of skin excess, we decided on a mini-tummy tuck. This would involve liposuction of the entire abdomen and skin excision through a short scar, which could all be done under local anesthesia. The surgery was done in our JCAHO-accredited facility in Downers Grove, IL. The patient had an oral sedative and pain pill and the abdomen was injected with tumescent solution. After liposuction, a low limited incision was made and the excess skin was excised. The belly button was left in place. The local anesthesia and limited incision allowed for a very quick recovery. At 3 months, the patient had an excellent improvement in profile.
