This is a 35 year-old female with a history of 150 lbs weight loss after a gastric bypass procedure who presented with excess skin and fat of the trunk. The patient was seen in consultation and given the extent of the excess tissue of the trunk, she was recommended for a lower body lift or circumferential lipectomy. The patient had a lower body lift under general anesthesia at our JCAHO accredited facility in Downers Grove, IL. The patient had liposuction of the lateral thighs as well with the Micro-aire power-assisted liposuction machine. Exparel (liposomal Marcaine) was injected into the abdominal wall and the incisions at the time of surgery to decrease postoperative pain and the need for narcotics. The tummy tuck portion of the procedure was performed using a drainless technique with barbed Quill sutures. The patient had an uneventful postoperative course and an excellent improvement in contour at six months after surgery.
