23 year-old Bensonville male with male breast reduction in Downers Grove, IL*

This 23 year-old male presented to the office with complaints of male breast tissue since he was a teenager. He reported that despite diet and exercise and being extremely physically fit he was unable to get rid of his male breasts (gynecomastia). He reported that the left side was always larger since he was a teenager and the nipples 'pooched out' with warm weather. We recommended a minimally invasive approach via a lateral 5 mm incision involving both excision of the breast tissue as well as liposuction with the Microaire Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL) machine. The patient was awake for the procedure using an oral sedative and tumescent anesthesia. We removed about twice as much breast tissue on the left side as on the right. He tolerated the procedure well and a nice improvement at 5 weeks after the procedure. The 5 mm incision is barely noticeable on postoperative photos.
