A 59 year-old Chicago area female who presented to the office with complaints of facial aging. On exam she had moderate to severe neck skin laxity with platysmal banding and jowls. She wanted a more defined jawline and better cheek fullness. We recommended a short scar face and neck lift under local anesthesia. We performed the procedure at our JCAHO accredited facility in Downers Grove, IL. She had a corset platysmaplasty of her neck to eliminate the neck bands and restore the jawline and cervicomental angle. We used a short scar which is located around the ear with a retrotragal incision that is hidden in the crease over the tragus. We added some autologous fat from her abdomen at the end of the operation to add more cheek volume and we used platelet rich plasma (PRP) which was taken from the patient's blood before the procedure. It was injected after the facelift was completed to decrease the amount of bruising and swelling and shorten the recovery time. All of the sutures were removed at five days postoperatively. The patient was fully recovered at 2 months and happy with her result.
