This is a 50 year-old female with history of multiple pregnancies in the past who presented to the office with complaints about her abdominal contour. She noted a muscle separation, and a failure in the improvement of her shape with diet and exercise. On exam, she has some lower abdominal skin excess, a rectus diastasis, and bilateral adiposities of the waist. We recommended a full tummy tuck with liposuction of the waist. She had the surgery at our AAAASF accredited facility in Downers Grove, IL under general anesthesia. She patient had liposuction of the waist using our MicroAire power-assisted liposuction machine. She also had the full tummy tuck with repair of the rectus diastasis. Exparel (liposomal Marcaine) was injected in the abdominal wall at the time of surgery to decrease postoperative pain and reduce the need for narcotics. A drainless technique was used with Quill barbed sutures in a quilting fashion creating progressive tension. A very low abdominal incision was used for the tummy tuck, and a special technique was used for recreation of the belly button. The patient had a uneventful postoperative course and was happy with the results.
