Arm Lift in 53 year-old Chicago area female in Downers Grove, IL*

This is a 53 year-old female with a history of a gastric bypass in the past and subsequent 130 lbs. weight loss who presented with concerns about the excess skin of her arms. She had severe skin laxity of both of her arms which she described as 'bat wings'. We recommended bilateral arm lifts (brachioplasties) to be done under general anesthesia in combination with circumferential liposuction of both arms. The patient had a full length incision which extended into the axilla and was positioned in the bicipital groove to avoid visibility with her incisions at her sides. A z-plasty was performed in each axilla to avoid scar contractures in the axillas. She had her surgery at our accredited surgical facility in our office in Downers Grove, IL. She tolerated the procedure well and had an uneventful postoperative course. She used silicone sheets from New Gel in the postoperative period to help with improvement in the appearance of her scars.
