Right Cheek Reconstruction after Excision of a Skin Cancer in Downers Grove, IL*

Front view of a 77 year-old patient that had a basal cell carcinoma of the right medial cheek that was excised by a mohs surgeon leaving her with a 2.5 cm defect of her left medial cheek. We reconstructed her defect using a local rotation advancement flap which was inferiorly based and designed in her right nasolabial fold. This allowed for superior advancement of the flap to cover the defect while camouflaging the scar in the right nasolabial fold. Notice the minimal visibility of the scar and a maintenance of the overall facial shape. The entire procedure was done under local anesthesia. More
